Meet The Creator

Hi, I am Geshu Sugandh, a mom, artist, writer, and children’s book author in English and Hindi. I am an explorer of words and worlds and a weaver of tongues, inspired by the shapes and sounds of Devanagari, by parenthood, yoga, and wildflowers. BrooklynBiharn is my homegrown bilingual storytelling studio, a literary garden where I weave my two tongues and blend my worlds. Language is my medium, my subject, and sometimes the material I play with. I explore culture as a lived story, not a checklist. Joy over judgment. Practice over perfection.

After nearly two decades advising global healthcare companies, a layoff led to a creative journey I did not expect but deeply needed. Born and raised in Bihar, India, I am a Biharn who calls Brooklyn home, where I live with my family, my daily inspiration. I have explored almost fifty countries, studied alongside people from many more, and have called Singapore, the U.K., and Norway home at different points in my life.

My experiences taught me something simple: belonging grows with exploration. My creative practice began with self-exploration, grew through sharing with my children, and continues to unfold. I am a lifelong explorer. More words open more worlds. More worlds reveal more of us.

I created BrooklynBiharn in January 2023 with the intention of sharing bilingual children’s literature that sparks curiosity, supports choice, and builds connection. It has since expanded into a platform for poetry, spoken word, concept art, and reflective essays that braid memoir and cultural storytelling to explore joy, belonging, and healing.

I also create playful exploration tools for Hindi and the Devanagari script for home and classroom, born from my family’s joyful Devanagari-forward bilingual practice. They follow a connection-first approach, not a curriculum. These include printables, zines, songs (in development), and Akshar Ajgar, an ongoing, phonics-based series that decodes Devanagari by patterns of shape and sound. They welcome language & culture-curious explorers of all ages and support Hindi-heritage families in weaving Devanagari for a lasting Hindi journey.

BrooklynBiharn is your inclusive invitation to explore Hindi, the Devanagari script, and culture with curiosity, choice, and connection, so you can continue your own adventures across diverse words and worlds. If you feel lost on the journey, that is part of discovery. Embrace it, and come explore words and worlds alongside me in two tongues.

Until I host my concept art, poetry, spoken word, and reflective essays here through Junglee Phool, a quarterly journal of a wildflower’s journey through words and worlds across time and place, you can explore them on InstagramMedium, and YouTube
