Meet The Creator

Hi, I am Geshu Sugandh.

Mom, artist, writer, and children’s book author in English and Hindi.

I am an explorer of words and worlds and a weaver of tongues, inspired by the shapes and sounds of Devanagari, by parenthood, yoga, and wildflowers.

BrooklynBiharn is my homegrown bilingual storytelling studio, a literary garden where I weave my two tongues and blend my worlds. Language is my medium, my subject, and sometimes the material I play with. I explore culture as a lived story, not a checklist. Joy over judgment. Practice over perfection.

After nearly two decades advising global healthcare companies, a layoff led to a creative journey I did not expect but deeply needed. Born and raised in Bihar, India, I am a Biharn who calls Brooklyn home, where I live with my family, my daily inspiration. I have explored almost fifty countries, studied alongside people from many more, and have called Singapore, the U.K., and Norway home at different points in my life.

My experiences taught me something simple: belonging grows with exploration.

My creative practice began with self-exploration, deepend through parenting, and continues to unfold. I am a lifelong explorer.

I started BrooklynBiharn in January 2023 with the intention of sharing bilingual children’s literature that sparks curiosity, supports choice, and builds connection. Since then, it has grown into a platform for poetry, spoken word, concept art, and reflective essays that braid memoir and cultural storytelling to explore joy, belonging, and healing.

I also create playful exploration tools for Hindi and the Devanagari script for home and classroom, born from our joyful Devanagari-forward bilingual practice. These follow a connection-first approach, not a curriculum. They include printables, zines, songs (Shubh Din "Good Day" Super Simple Hindi Songs is now streaming everywhere!), and Akshar Ajgar, an ongoing, phonics-based series that decodes Devanagari by patterns of shape and sound. These resources welcome language-curious explorers of all ages and support Hindi-heritage families in weaving Devanagari for a lasting Hindi journey.

Everything I share is rooted in the living language of my home, shaped by the intimacy of parenthood, memory, and life’s unfolding experiences. I ask that you honor the care, context, and labor they come from.

BrooklynBiharn is an inclusive invitation for ALL to explore culture and language.
Discover stories across tongues, places, and time.
Discover joyful Devanagari-forward Hindi bilingualism and the cultural storytelling it carries.

Let what sparks you here guide you toward building your own stories across diverse words and worlds—with curiosity, choice, and connection.
Because for us exploration isn't the destination.
It's the purpose. ✨

If you feel lost, that is part of discovery. Embrace it!

With wildflower strength 🌸
